A Month Is A Long Time

I have not posted in a whole month which is pretty bad. Things have been moving forward sort of. Shall we summarise:
  • Job hunting, cranking out maybe 15 a week as a minimum
  • No interviews this week
  • Booked my place for a really cool Star Wars: The Force Awakens Party
  • Trying my best to put in some work for Nanowrimo
I am trying to remain positive but it is not easy. Thankfully I am stubborn and I am just not willing to give up yet. I've been getting through a lot of books and a number of my favourite series came to end this year or will next year.

I've been doing a bit more with my volunteer role hopefully that means that we will get our accreditation back so I can go cover events. It is something that is fun and also means that I am gaining new skills as well as working on improving existing ones, communication skills can always be better right?

So a short update for sure but hopefully I will be back soon with more.

Personal Blog: What Have I Been Doing?

It has been awhile since I have talked with you my readers. Some things have changed and some have stayed the same. Recently I went back to a story idea I had for NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) I didn’t get very far back then with all the pressure on but looking at it now it just seemed to be easier to let the words flow so that is pretty cool. Oh the word count is at around 4500 so just a start but a decent one.

Something that just happened this week though is a job interview. Yeah a single one but that one is so much more than what I have been getting over the last few months of futility. I am making notes about the job and the University at which it is based but we will have to see, also there is a test probably something Excel based.

Unfortunately for me lately I have had no end of net problems but hopefully that is behind me now I mention it because it means that I am behind on my various blogs which is a shame but I am sure people will bear with me now especially as I have to make time for interview prep.

Book wise I am falling behind in my book challenge target but catching up slowly. I recently read The Naturals by Jennifer Lynn Barnes and that stands out as the best new property I have read this year easily. I am looking forward to the latest Bloodlines by Richelle Mead book though that should be excellent.

TV wise I am all caught up on True Blood and 24 and now trying the new episodes of both series though I am a bit behind on 24. I am so far liking this new Chloe seriously toned not so sure about the goth gear though. I think this new 12 hour episode could really help revitalise the show.

BOOK REVIEW: Feast of Fools

This review is part of the Morganville Vampires Reading Challenge.

Feast of Fools by Rachel Caine is the fourth book in the Morganville Vampire series. It was published by Allison & Busby and is 352 pages long.

PLOT
In the town of Morganville, vampires and humans live in relative peace. Student Claire Danvers has never been convinced, though, especially with the arrival of Mr. Bishop, an ancient, old-school vampire who cares nothing about harmony. What he wants from the town's living and its dead is unthinkably sinister. It's only at a formal ball, attended by vampires and their human dates, that Claire realizes the elaborately evil trap he's set for Morganville.

WHAT I THOUGHT
The story of Morganville continues with this the 4th book of the series. Clare is continuing to grow and mature though still has what has become an incredibly annoying habit of saying "But..." and "You can't do that" at points where you might expect someone of her massive intellect to simply know better.
The story is moving along well and keeps you the reader interested some plots could be resolved sooner though that whole Michael/Shane thing could drive the sanest of us of mad the way they back and forth over whether or not they hate each other.

Also I expected a lot more reaction from her parents as to the whole big Vampire reveal it could have provided some comic relief or at least fleshed out their characters. We don't seem to know whether or not they have jobs or what it is they do. I am a firm believer that if a character is worth giving voice to then we should know a little about what motivates them.

I like this series and I am sticking with it give it a chance.
