20 Days of Gold Making - WHEN DID YOU START GOLD MAKING & WHAT TRIGGERED IT?

My random responses to 20 days of Gold Making by Nev. Because I am a lazy writing and there is no way I was going to manage 20 articles in 20 days. You should go read her stuff here and here. There is even a centrallisting of everyone taking part in the challenge.

A little background I have been playing since the launch of Burning Crusade after spending a few months regularly visiting a friend who slowly explained to me the basics of the game. I really started to go down the gold making road when my connection started going south and things like raiding where no longer an option.

I loved playing WoW but I was forced to go solo for most things as my connection meant that I couldn’t even do 5-man content without letting the rest of the team down.  So I started just doing the dailies whenever I logged on and did things like the Argent Tournament for the sake of completion.

My first ideas were trying to flip things like linen and wool that I had kept on my bank alt who had her own personal guild for storage. Eventually I started looking at Gold Making Blogs and I got the bug from there.

BOOK REVIEW: Feast of Fools

This review is part of the Morganville Vampires Reading Challenge.

 Feast of Fools by Rachel Caine is the fourth book in the Morganville Vampire series. It was published by Allison & Busby and is 352 pages long.

PLOT

In the town of Morganville, vampires and humans live in relative peace. Student Claire Danvers has never been convinced, though, especially with the arrival of Mr. Bishop, an ancient, old-school vampire who cares nothing about harmony. What he wants from the town's living and its dead is unthinkably sinister. It's only at a formal ball, attended by vampires and their human dates, that Claire realizes the elaborately evil trap he's set for Morganville.

WHAT I THOUGHT

The story of Morganville continues with this the 4th book of the series. Clare is continuing to grow and mature though still has what has become an incredibly annoying habit of saying "But..." and "You can't do that" at points where you might expect someone of her massive intellect to simply know better.

The story is moving along well and keeps you the reader interested some plots could be resolved sooner though that whole Michael/Shane thing could drive the sanest of us of mad the way they back and forth over whether or not they hate each other.

Also I expected a lot more reaction from her parents as to the whole big Vampire reveal it could have provided some comic relief or at least fleshed out their characters. We don't seem to know whether or not they have jobs or what it is they do. I am a firm believer that if a character is worth giving voice to then we should know a little about what motivates them.

I like this series and I am sticking with it give it a chance.

BOOK REVIEW: If I Die by Rachel Vincent

If I Die is the fifth book in the Soul Screamers and is written by Rachel Vincent. It was published by Mira Ink on the 3^rd of February 2012. This book review is part of the Soul Screamers Challenge. I purchased this book myself.

PLOT

Kaylee can see death coming. But how will she face her own? And he’s looking for a few healthy young girls capable of carrying a non-human infant to full term and Kaylee s mortal best friend Emma fits the bill perfectly. But as Kaylee fights to save her female classmates, her dark fate is closing in.

And as Kaylee’s borrowed lifeline nears its end, and the men who love her will do anything to save her life. Even if it costs their own...

WHAT I THOUGHT

This proved to be a huge game changer in more ways than one. While My Soul to Steal was a frustrating read for me with so Nash and Kaylee seemingly making the same mistakes all over again despite past experiences .

Soul Screamers was always a series that had it dark parts most notably for me at least in the prequel which scared the heck right out of me. This book for me at least is the next scariest instalment, it is one of those that make you stop mid-sentence just to say “Eww that is just WRONG”.

If I Die is the beginning of a change in the series and I couldn’t be happier, I’ve never thought of Kaylee as being weak just as someone who was rather impulsive for the most part but in this instalment of Soul Screamers we see how strong a young woman she truly is and it is inspiring. To face what she is facing and somehow put it to the back of her mind to help her friends even while fighting with yet another supernatural being shows how much heart she has.

At the end of If I Die I knew my relationship with the series had fundamentally changed it went from my initial feeling of liking Kaylee’s friends and not understanding her motivation through the first four books to finally thinking that I could fully understand why she makes the decisions she does. This made me so much more excited about the follow ups to this book. I know I am probably in the minority of fans who felt this way but surely there is room for us all. Anyway for now wake me on the 6^th of July for “Before I wake”. I’m sure I will see you there.
